N-Way Frequency Analysis of Categorical Data
This method allows generating n-way frequency output reports with 2D-data-slices representing levels of two or more grouping variables.
Supported Worksheet Layout
- The worksheet layout illustrated in image (c), below, is an example of the required data layout for using this method.
- For a 2-way analysis, two categorical data columns are required; for an n-way analysis, three or more categorical data columns are required.
Analysis Output
- NOTE: The number of n-way tables (2-D slices) that will be generated depends on (i) the number of categorical variables you select, and (ii) the number of levels in each of the 3rd, 4th,..., nth selected variables.
- If the output results include more tables that can be displayed on a single viewer page, Aabel will automatically create new pages as needed.
- In the image below, (a) and (b) show frequency tables for levels of three categorical variables; (c) is a screenshot from a fraction of the corresponding source worksheet displaying the data layout. Note that each generated mean table includes all levels of the 1st and 2nd variables, but represents only one level of the 3rd variable.
- If only two variables were included in the analysis, a single 2-way table would have been generated. With five categorical variables, if the last three each had 10 levels, you are asking Aabel to generate 10*10*10 = 1000 tables!
